Chapter 112. The Look in Her Eyes
Nikolas maneuvered the car, and they started for LA. Brooklyn used Nikolas’s phone to call Brandon, who blasted her for the stunt she had pulled. She called Amy as well, but she was too angry to talk.
“Amy won’t talk to me. She’s angry with me,” pouted Brooklyn.
“So am I,” said Nikolas, shaking his head.
“Oh, but you don’t look angry at all,” she pointed out.
“I’ve learned to control my temper,” said Nikolas, glancing at her to catch the surprised look on her face. He had taken the police officer’s words seriously and ever since he had been trying to restrain himself.
“Oh,” said Brooklyn, feeling a little guilty.
They drove on in silence while Brooklyn contemplated on whether to ask him what kept him busy for the last nine months but didn’t get the courage to ask him. What if he got angry? The twins were fast asleep when they reached the hotel where Nikolas was staying.
