Chapter 19. Facing Phantom
“Sit,” he said, still with his hands fused with hers.
The moment they sat down on the loveseat at the far end, Amelia felt a tug in her hand. She looked up at Matteo leaning in towards her.
“Relax and look happy or I’ll kiss you,” he whispered in her ear, grazing his warm lips against the sensitive skin there as a warning.
Amelia’s heart raced with apprehension, but she bared her teeth and gave him a fake but bright grin. He laughed and pulled away when the door opened and a giant, bald-headed, tattooed man entered the office.
Amelia was immediately on high alert as the man approached them, his glittering eyes glaring at Matteo. She touched her sling bag, feeling inside to check her weapon. Yes, it was there!
“Matteo, it’s good that you came over. I wanted to talk to you.” Matteo stood up at the sight of him, walking up to clasp his outstretched hand, leaving Amelia’s for the first time since they entered the house.
