Chapter 23. Leaving Him

She quietly ate what he offered, drowning in the intense depths of his eyes.

“How was it?” Amelia nodded, picking up some and holding it to his mouth too.

“It’s my favorite now,” she mumbled, her heart heavy with sorrow. She didn’t understand why the thought of leaving him caused her so much heartbreak. He gave her a sad little smile and ate up the bite.

“That’s the best I’ve ever eaten,” he whispered, tearing his gaze away from hers and concentrating on the food. “When is your flight, Emilia?” The question was sudden, and Amelia looked at him blankly.

“I haven’t booked the flight yet.”

“Stay then. Just for a month,” he gave her a solemn look as if imploring her to stay.

“I have to go, Matteo. My dad wants me to appear for the MBA entrance exam.” Matteo sighed, unable to stop her anymore. He knew the importance of education, having never got a chance to continue with his college degree. He couldn’t stop her from achieving her dreams.
