Chapter 20. A Nightmare
She slipped out of the door and went to wait for Matteo beside his car. It was dark all around and Amelia checked her sling bag for her mobile and weapon. Yes, both were intact. There were cars and motorcycles all around her, giving the place a creepy look.
A tremor went down Amelia’s spine, and she wondered when Matteo would come out. This was clearly the worst mistake of her life. Matteo didn’t need her help. He didn’t need a fiancée. He just needed money! Then why did he involve her?
She looked around the dimly lit driveway, alert with her hand in her sling bag, groping for her weapon. She always carried her knife with her. That’s what they taught her at her self-defense classes and she was a pro at it.
