Chapter 27. Threatened

“How far have you reached?” He sank into his chair and stared at her instead of at the laptop. Amelia blushed at his scrutiny but avoided looking at him, trying to prove how busy she was.

“I’ve gone through the files and figured out the software. I’m now feeding the data into it.” Matteo blinked for a second in disbelief and then focused his attention on the laptop screen.

“Wow! You’re fast, accountant! Beauty with brains, huh?” His appreciation made a warm flush spread all over her body. So, he found her beautiful!

“It’s no big deal, Matteo.”

“No, it is. I’ll treat you to lunch. Come on.” He held out his hand for her to take and they locked the office and walked out of the shop, hand in hand, like a couple in love.

“So, how was your first day at work, cara?”

“Good, so far. Dad called me in the morning. I asked him for a month and strangely he agreed,” she said breathlessly as they walked towards a small café tucked away near the corner.<
