“We missed you too. Where’s your girl, bro?” he asked, releasing Matteo and looking around for Amelia.
“She misunderstood me and went back to her home in LA.” Marcello carried his luggage inside while Matteo followed him.
“Was it because of Sophia? She was here, but Mama didn’t believe her. The kid hardly resembled you. We threw her out. There was such a big drama about it. She reported to Di Salvo’s underboss, and he came over with his men.” Matteo’s eyes went wide with horror and they stopped right on the doorstep.
“Did they harm you? This was what I was worried about.”
“No, Papà ha chiamato Rafael. È venuto e ha gestito la questione.” (No, Papa called Rafael. He came over and handled the matter.)
