Chapter 47. A Strange Connection
Nikolas was acutely aware of the way Brooklyn was staring at him, but he dared not look into her eyes for fear of losing his senses. He carried her to her room and gently placed her down. “Thank you.” At that moment, all Brooklyn wanted was to just disappear into her washroom, but he just stood there, adding to her anxiety.
“I need to go to the washroom,” she blurted out at last not knowing what he was standing and waiting for. He nodded, staring at her.
“I’ll make dinner. Do you need bland food?” Brooklyn smiled, seeing the agitated expression on his face.
“No, I’m not sick at all.” He frowned, regarding her thoughtfully, and then turned on his heel and abruptly left the room.
Brooklyn heaved a sigh of relief and quickly dashed over to the washroom to take care of her situation, but her mind was on Nikolas. Her lips still throbbed from the intensity of the kiss.
