“Umm, I felt claustrophobic in my previous room, so Nikolas shifted me here,” she said, looking embarrassed. Brandon gave her a suspicious look, making Brooklyn instantly on her guard.
“Are you sure that there’s nothing between you and sir? Why would he care about you so much? Why would he keep you in such a room?” asked Brandon suspiciously.
“Hell, no. There’s nothing. How could you imagine that there would be anything between us? I was his prisoner because you hadn’t returned him his money. I agreed to work for him to pay off the amount, so he allowed me to walk around freely. Else I would still be a prisoner here,” said Brooklyn, rolling her eyes at her brother while her cheeks heated with embarrassment. Brandon seemed to buy her explanation and looked guilty.
