Chapter 52. Realizations
After disconnecting the call, he called his pilot and planned to visit Yakima to oversee the irrigation project himself. That way, he could forget his urges and drive all thoughts of Brooklyn out of his mind for a while.
He quickly packed his luggage for the trip. He knew he was escaping like a coward, but he couldn’t help it. Staying here wasn’t helping him. Brooklyn was ten years younger than him and didn’t return his feelings. He couldn’t take advantage of an innocent teenager who looked up to him for protection.
Kathy knocked on his door and brought in his coffee and breakfast. “Kathy, inform Brooklyn that she doesn’t need to accompany me to work now onwards. She can rest. I’m leaving for Washington in an hour. I’ll step up the security further,” he told her. Kathy nodded and left his study room to go downstairs.
She checked up on Brooklyn, who had been lying down because of her cramps since morning, unable to get ready for work.
