She caught his arm and tried to wrench herself free. “I was about to go look for a job when you came in. I’m not going back with you, as all your male employees make crude jokes about my character. Brandon couldn’t survive their sneers. I’m sorry, Nikolas, but I can’t go back. I have my self-respect to think of.”
Nikolas was stunned at her outburst and released her, mulling over what she just told him. Brooklyn stormed out of the room to find her handbag and go job hunting in the vicinity. Coming to his senses, Nikolas rushed out after her.
“Stop Brooklyn. I’m sorry, I had no idea of this.” He caught hold of her wrist to stop her from leaving. “Where are you going?” he asked as she picked up her handbag and the keys to the apartment.
“I’m going to look for a job.”

“Anywhere,” she shrugged.
