I accept the handshake with a forced smile. It had nothing to do with the guy and everything to do with what is happening with me.

"Nice to meet you." I forced the words out, standing up.

"Pleasure is all mine, man. Jen's told me all about you, I'm glad she has made another friend apart from me in this town."

Jennifer shoves him with a playful smile, which he ignores.

"No one is worth being friends with. They aren't as interesting as you." he places his hand on his chest with a mocking smile.

"That is the sweetest thing you have ever said to me." Rolling her eyes, she faces me and I see her smile drop.

I smiled in return. I didn't need her to hide how happy she was because of how miserable I am. She is an amazing person for doing that but she didn't have to.

That reminds me of the kind of selfless heart Feyre has. This just makes me want to bring them together, so they can see how alike they are.
