Chapter 15. Badass
"Don't," Amara said. It was too low, I couldn't hear properly. I moved my face closer to her, and she said, "Don't get too close to me."
I smiled. I caressed her cheeks as I kneel down to level myself to her too. Her eyes were closed as her tears streamed down. Her brows furrowed, and she was sobbing…
"What should I do to lessen the pain?" I asked. "Please, tell me."
She finally opened her dark doll eyes, and I saw it turned back to her differently colored eyes.
"I don't know."
I nodded.
She looked tortured. Her body has a lot of scars and bruises. Her face is full of blood. Her fingernails are also longer than usual, and have blood stuck in it— inside of it.
I held her hand, caressed it, and put it in my heart. "You can trust this," I said.
She looked at me with more comfort. Now, she leaned her head on my chest. Nonchalantly facial expressions remain, but I know that her hardened heart has now softened.
