On the outskirts of Melevola, Ivory and Myriad had already been in the cave for about 24 hours. They were both tired and hungry, but they had also drawn closer and were a bit fond of each other.

The company was good for Myriad; she couldn’t even remember the last time she socialized. In fact, she never really socialized; since she could remember, she had mostly been alone, and maybe that’s what made the monster seem so superior to her.
