Chapter 27. Heart Attack
“Someone get me a first aid kit.” Jared barked out as he lowered her onto the couch in one of the smaller sitting rooms.
One of the two guards hovering around ran to get it.
Jared turned back to her, face gaunt with worry as he scanned her. His hands fluttered uncertainly, as if he didn't know where to touch.
She winced when he finally lifted her injured ankle onto a cushion. “The blood isn't mine; all I have are a few bruises and the ankle. I’m fine, Jay.”
“No, you are not.” He said as he crouched in front of her, jaw tight, checking the swelling.
His hands were steady on her leg, but when she reached for one to comfort him, she felt the tremor running through him.
Myla went still, staring at him. “You are shaking,” she whispered in surprise.
