When they finally retreated to the bedroom at the detective's insistence, it wasn’t for sleep… no one in this house was going to close their eyes easily tonight… more like early morning.
Myla sat on the edge of the tub in the bathroom, steam curling around her as the water rinsed off blood and fear. Her ankle was throbbing more painfully where it was wrapped now that the adrenaline was wearing off.
