Chapter 39. Two Rounds of Ruin

Jared stood frozen in the hallway, pulse hammering. Hayden’s low voice, the filthy things he’d whispered to Myla, and the way her cry had broken when she’d come… it had shaken his self-control like a building’s foundation during an earthquake.

Beside him, Beck exhaled shakily. Ears still hummed faintly with the echoes of Myla’s moans. “Christ,” he muttered, raking a hand through his dark hair. “He hasn’t lost his touch.”

For one charged moment, neither man moved.

Then Beck turned away first, eyes dark. “Next time,” he muttered under his breath, voice hoarse, “I want more than listening." For now, you follow me. I need to let out some steam.”

Jared didn’t say anything. His jaw was tight, his eyes darker than usual as they walked back to their room in silence.

When they slipped into Beck’s room, the ai
