She avoided my gaze again. She’s been avoiding it since I asked her that question. I noticed how she tried to divert my attention the first time but I ignored it. I would do whatever she wanted if it made her comfortable.

"I work to take my mind off things. I feel like if I keep everything pent-up and remain indoors, I might lose my mind," she explained, fiddling with her fingers. I wondered what was bothering her so much that she couldn’t say.
