Chapter 63
Hazel's POV
"Why?" I began with my question.
Keeping the fear out of my voice I realized that my fear fueled her energy more. It made her very happy to have me all jittery and lost. I wasn’t going to let her see me that way, even though that was how I was currently feeling on the inside.
My insides were buzzing frantically with fear, and my nerves were intricately knotted tight. Though, that didn’t mean that when it came for me to play pretend, I wouldn’t. I would play whatever I had to play to save me and Lia from the woman’s grip.
Still, I hoped Alpha Lokris would grace us with his despicable presence. If he didn’t, then that would just be my misfortune because I didn’t know or have any other ideas.
"Why what?"
"Why are you doing this?"
"Doing what?"
"She’s playing the mind game with you, Hazel."
"I suspected. I’ll just have to be careful."
"You better be. You’d be no good to me dead."
I scoffed.
