Alpha Lokris’s POV
There was something quite strange about this human girl. I couldn’t really place my hands on it yet, but I was sure. Sending my men to venture onto the border of the Phantom Pack was a great risk I was ready to take.
The girl had insisted that her guardian had died, or, in her own words, had left this world. Which was the same thing to me. When someone leaves this world for the next, it only signifies death and the transit into the world meant for the dead.
No one could withstand that amount of pain; no one could endure that wicked lashing of my whip only to still lie to my face; it was impossible. The truth was sure to have been out, and if she’d insisted that one of the twins had truly passed, then it would have left me in a room of confusion.
