I ran and kept running. I didn’t want to stop. I had to get away from that room, far from the Moon Star Pack. Far from Alpha Lokris and his menacing whip.
My gown was a mess—bloodied, ripped, and dirty—but I had none other. It was better than being naked. I was with the murdering weapon. The one I had used to kill.
Oh my goodness, I didn’t want to think about all of that ugly incident. The most important thing was to make sure I was never caught again, because I knew I’d be dead before I saw the sun again.
Alpha Lokris must not get a hold of me again. I was panting, and my back hurt like hell. The sun was shining on my wounded, tender skin. But I couldn’t risk stopping to zip up my gown that was now bagging on me, courtesy of being starved and tortured.
