Chapter 5. Why Should I?

Selena couldn’t understand the meaning behind the words spoken by the mafia boss.

“Do you like giving things for free to a man?”

“Oh, no, you’re the first. I’m not that rich to give things away to men. But because you were kind and helped me deal with that man earlier, I want to treat you,” Selena said with a cheerful smile.

“Selena.”

Selena’s face instantly tensed as the mafia boss called her by name.

“Have I done something wrong, Mr. Mafia Boss? If I made a mistake, please forgive me.”

“Is your name Selena?”

Selena nodded her head in response.

“Zidant.”

Selena’s forehead wrinkled in confusion and wonder.

“You’re foolish!! That’s my name!” he replied firmly.

Selena’s mouth dropped in surprise upon hearing the words from the handsome mafia boss. “You told me your name? But why? Aren’t mafia bosses always secretive? So, you’re a fake mafia boss?”

Unbeknownst to Selena, the lips of the mafia boss curled into a slight grin upon hearing Selena’s words.

“How do you know about that?” Zidant asked.

“Internet articles,” Selena answered innocently.

“You looked me up?”

Selena nodded sheepishly. “Yes, I made a mistake with the mafia boss, so I wanted to find out how to apologize to a mafia boss. So that I won’t get killed,” Selena whispered, but it was still audible to Zidant.

“Stop acting foolish!”

Selena remained silent upon being told that. Her lips pouted upon hearing those words from the mouth of the handsome mafia boss.

“If you don’t want me to kiss you, stop sticking out your lips!”

“Kiss?” Selena murmured as she immediately covered her entire face with her palm.

“Quick, take this card!”

Her face, which was previously covered, opened up again as Selena reached out her right hand to take the black card from the mafia boss.

“Thank you for coming,” Selena replied politely and courteously.

Selena then handed the card and payment receipt to the mafia boss. However, her hands were trembling, which was noticed sharply by the man. This unintentionally caused Selena to accidentally knock over the mafia boss’s phone, causing it to fall to the ground.

“Oh, my God!” Selena was terrified by what had just happened.

Selena hurriedly left the cashier area and approached the mafia boss. She picked up the fallen phone, and her eyes widened upon seeing its cracked screen.

“I apologize,” Selena lowered her head deeply. “I will take responsibility. I will fix this phone to its original condition. Mr. Mafia Boss, please don’t worry, I will take responsibility. I apologize once again, Mr. Mafia Boss.” Selena continued to bow her head.

“Do you know what’s inside the phone you just damaged? It’s worth billions, and you’ve ruined it! You’ve disrupted my work!”

Selena’s body trembled with fear as the mafia boss raised his voice sternly. This instantly made Selena’s eyes well up with tears.

Upon hearing those words, Selena looked at the phone in the mafia boss’s hand.

“I will take responsibility,” Selena said with a threatening tone.

“Fine, if you want to take responsibility. There’s no need to fix this phone because I can buy a new one. But replace the important contents that were inside my phone! Can you do that?”

Selena couldn’t answer anything upon hearing those words. She could only bow deeply, her eyes filled with tears. Her emotions were in turmoil due to this unfortunate incident.

“I don’t need it if you can’t provide it. But do something else for me. Okay, Miss Selena?”

Upon hearing that, Selena, who was bowing down, lifted her head and saw the face of the mafia leader approaching her closely.

“Really?” Selena asked, hopefully, because she didn’t have that much money.

Selena took a step back as the mafia leader approached her. She couldn’t step back further as her body was against the cashier counter. The face of Zidant was very close to Selena.

“Mafia boss,” Selena whispered, scared.

“Don’t worry, I won’t take your organs. Just give birth to a baby boy for me!”

Selena didn’t know what to say. Her body and mind were suddenly confused by the statement made by the mafia leader.

“Give birth to a baby boy for me. That’s the only way for you to take responsibility!”

“Me?” Selena pointed to herself.

Zidant nodded briefly.

“I can’t.”

“If you can’t, my assistant will inform you of the total amount you must pay for everything!” Zidant said firmly, his gaze piercing toward Selena.

“I have no experience in being in a relationship with a man. How can I give birth to a child for you? I really can’t do this. Besides, don’t you have to get married first if you want to have a child? That’s what my grandmother said. Can you get pregnant before getting married?” Selena spoke with an innocent expression on her face.

Zidant’s lips curled into a thin smile upon hearing that response. “So you’ve never been in a relationship?”

Selena shook her head in response.

Zidant fell silent for a moment, contemplating the last statement Selena made. “Marriage,” mumbled Zidant.

“I can’t, sir,” Selena said.

Zidant once again looked at the young girl in front of him. “I’ll come back later and think about what you’ll do!” Zidant’s lips secretly formed a satisfied grin, knowing the girl was genuinely naive.

“A perfect match,” murmured Zidant.

After saying that, Zidant left the minimarket, leaving Selena lost in thought over the recent events.

Meanwhile, Zidant glanced briefly at the minimarket to see the girl still in shock.

“Sir, why did you do that?”

Suddenly, a tall man approached Zidant from behind. The man was Zidant’s assistant, named Gio.

“Just as you said yesterday, that girl is foolish! She’s perfect for bearing my child! Don’t ask too many questions. Do whatever it takes to make her do what I want!” Zidant ordered his assistant Gio.

“Yes, sir,” replied Gio.

Zidant entered his black car and drove off, leaving only his assistant behind.

“Why did that girl make a mistake at a time like this? She’s truly foolish! Sir is very skilled at taking advantage of favorable opportunities. Enjoy your fate,” muttered Gio. He then walked into the minimarket to carry out his boss’s orders.

Gio stood right in front of Selena, who was still standing silently.

“Hello!”

Selena’s reverie was shattered upon hearing the voice. “Welcome.” Selena quickly regained her composure and returned to the cashier counter.

Gio stood at the cashier counter. “I am Assistant Gio. Let’s talk, Miss Selena.”

Thump. Selena’s heart raced even more upon hearing that. “I can’t do it,” Selena said softly.

“Let’s talk, Miss,” Gio insisted.

Meanwhile, Selena could only surrender. “Why has my life suddenly turned out like this?” Selena murmured.
