Chapter 7. No More Options

At midnight, Selena finally returned home after her boss came to take over her shift. Her boss had asked her to come back at 8 a.m., so Selena hurried to go home, wanting her body to be well-rested for work the next morning.

“I’ve missed my bed,” Selena said as she got off the bus.

Selena walked towards her apartment. She entered the elevator and pressed the button for her apartment unit. As Selena stepped out of the elevator, her expression turned fearful and anxious.

“Oh, God! There’s a debt collector in front!” Selena tried to find a hiding place, which led her to the emergency staircase. She prayed that the debt collector would leave her apartment unit.

“I don’t have the money to pay. Oh God, please make them leave quickly. I have to work tomorrow.”

Selena continued to hide on the staircase, hoping that the debt collector would soon leave. However, they had been there for an hour and still hadn’t left in front of her apartment door.
