Chapter 14. Burdens of Freedom
Looking out the window, I could tell that we were not back at the Villa. This was somewhere I had not been before.
“Get down, Rue,” His voice echoed and I dared not disobey. I opened my side of the car and got down. “Let’s go.” He led the way down a dirt path that was narrow, both sides were tall trees.
It was by evening now and I could sense that it would be dark soon. Where was he taking me? Yet, I dared not question him. Following him, we reached the end of the path and I could hear the sounds of waves crashing.
The beach! We were at the beach. But when I looked around, it looked abandoned; like no one had been there in a very long time. In silence, I followed him until we reached a fallen tree, giving us a clear view of the ocean moving aggressively.
