The thought sent a shiver down my spine, and I quickly shook it off. No, that couldn’t be, could it? He was the dark alpha, there was no way that the Moon goddess would pair me to be mates with him. 

I hated that she had not been clear so I knew that this was going to be the next thing for me to overthink over for the longest. 

I glanced up at him, trying to gauge his expression. He was busy cutting into his steak, the raw meat practically glistening as he moved with deliberate ease. He noticed me staring and raised an eyebrow, his smirk returning like it never left. 

“What?” He asked, his tone teasing. “You like like you’re deciding whether to eat or run.” 

I rolled my eyes, masking the flurry of emotions brewing inside me. “I’m deciding if this is safe to eat,” Is hot back, earning another chuckle from him. The sound was rich and genuine, warming something deep inside me I didn’t know was cold.
