Chapter 165. Heavy Rain

As we pulled up to the mansion, the looming structure felt more like a prison than a sactuary. The car rolled to a stop, and the hum of the engine cut off, leaving an oppressive silence that seemed to stretch for eternity. 

Darco did not move to get out, and that made me very nervous. He did not even say a word. He just kept on staring at me, as if he was waiting for me to confess. And let me tell you, if that was what he was waiting for, he was not going to get it. 

I was way too drained to even explain myself right now. I was also cold despite the heater on full blast. My clothes were still soaked and my head had a banging headache that could not just go away. 

I understood the headache, who wouldn’t have a headache after what I had just been through? My throat was dry and I still felt like crying but the only reason I was not doing that right now was because I think I had cried too much and no more tears would come.
