At least that was what I’d like to believe.
Still her presence here—looking the way she did, with her hair chopped short and stress etched into her features…was unexpected and a bit alarming, if I was being honest.
I stepped aside silently, gesturing for her to enter. She walked in slowly, her movements hesitant, as if unsure whether I truly wanted her there. I think she knew that I did not, but she was already here and I was not going to kick her out…so.
“Thanks,” She murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
I closed the door behind her and turned to face her, crossing my arms. “What’s going on? You ook…different,” I said, trying to keep my tone neutral despite the fatigue and emotional exhaustion weighing on me.
