I swallowed, and then stepped back, allowing him entry into my room. As he walked in, I could not help but notice the tension in his broad shoulders. It was the opposite of his usual confident demeanor, at least to me.
He walked deeper in and sat on the edge of the bed, his hands clasped together as if grappling with his thoughts. I closed the door, my heart racing with a mix of apprehension and curiosity.
I wanted to hear what he had to say. Yeah, I mean, I had already heard him agree with the Elders. But maybe Cassie was right, maybe he had a plan to make all of this turn around for me.
