Chapter 40. Not Leaving

The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room as I stirred from a restless sleep. The events of the previous night replayed in my mind like a broken record, each moment etched with a sense of pain and heaviness. 

With a heavy sigh, I pushed myself upright, the weight of the world pressing down on my shoulders. Despite how nice it looked outside; the warmth of the monring sun, a chill still lingered in the air that I could not explain. 

As I dressed in silence after showering, my thoughts drifted back to the way the Alpha had left the room last night. He had said some words that had deeply stung me. 

Steeling myself for the day ahead, I squared my shoulders and made my way downstairs, the familiar surroundings of the villa offering a strange sense of peace that I could not explain.
