Chapter 77. Am I Ready?

I stood there, the cold wind against my skin. It felt good, it felt soothing. But there was now this anxiety in my heart; this yearning to know the truth. And gosh, it was strong. “Am I ready?” I repeated the question, staring straight into the eyes of the little girl who claimed to be my wolf. 

She ran her hand through her lustrous hair and chuckled. “Rue, if you were, you would have shifted long since. You’re not ready, and you know it. You’re asking a question that you already know the answer to.” She flashed me a warm but sad smile. 

I felt my heart break a little. “Then…then when?” Tears started to build in my eyes. “When will I be ready?” 

“Listen to the dark alpha. Let him train you. He will help you get ready but do not allow his darkness to corrupt you. It’s very easy for that to happen. In fact, it had happened many times; even to the strongest of minds.”
