Chapter 32
It was almost noon when I woke up. I could hear the sound of birds chirping outside, and the sun was shining brightly in the sky. The curtains were drawn open, and the light coming in through the window was almost blinding. I rubbed my eyes and looked around the room, expecting to find Vince in the room, but he wasn’t there. The bed next to me was empty.
“Where the hell are you, Vince?” I muttered under my breath, and then I saw the note on the table. I walked over to the table and picked up the note.
Laura, I have some important work and will be back by evening. Love, Vince.
I read the note twice and then threw it on the table. “What the hell?” I said to myself, wondering what kind of work Vince had. I was sure that whatever work he was doing was probably related to his business.
