The early morning sunlight streamed through the hospital window, casting a warm glow on the three of us huddled together. Oliver, snug in his swaddling blanket, continued to slumber, blissfully unaware of the world he had just entered.
Vince chuckled, his deep voice vibrating through the room. “Well, if he inherits my patience, he’ll be the most zen baby on the block. But let’s not jinx it, shall we?”
I leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Oliver’s forehead. “Agreed. Let’s just enjoy this moment.”
As we settled into the hushed quiet of the room, a knock on the door signaled the entrance of the nurse. She beamed at us, holding a clipboard. “How are the new parents doing?”
