Chapter 145. Tied for Life

When I opened the door to the room, Lena and I noticed my brother's presence. He was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, staring at us. Jake looked angry and upset. I think he found out what Lena and I did. I prayed he hadn't, but he glared at us indignantly. It was obvious Jake deduced what happened. Moreover, it was a giveaway seeing us leave my room.
I noticed my shirt was still half-open, and I quickly adjusted it. I think I gave myself away. Jake must have followed Lena's gaze to look at me, then turned back to his girlfriend.
Lena uttered my brother's name. Her heart raced. Lena couldn't hide her nervousness. I preferred to act normal to avoid suspicion.
"I've been waiting for you, Lena."
"How long have you been there?"
"Long enough," he replied.
"It's not what you think, Jake. Let's go home, and I'll explain what happened," she pleaded, frigh
