Chapter 71. Don't Speak

I hid behind the washing machine so they wouldn't find me. The basement was locked, but I knew the police would find me. To be honest with myself, I knew hiding was futile. Dean would find me. He had contacts in the police. Several officers were part of Dean's pack, so I knew they would smell me and track me down. I guessed Zed would come up with some lie; he might say that I wasn't in the house, but the police would find my clothes upstairs.

I covered my ears to avoid hearing Zed's complaints. My sense of hearing seemed to work perfectly that day. I could hear the accelerated sound of Zed's heart. I felt so sorry for him. I dragged Zed into a terrible situation. Jake had a misfortune just for being close to me. Perhaps the curse affected me physically, but it also affected the people around me. Since the curse fell on me, I hadn't stopped experiencing terrible events.

I heard Dean's voice. The police asked Dean not to enter
