Chapter 75
Winter’s POV
Lucas and I sat in front of the crackling fire, we watched the meat roast over the flames. He got up to turn it over, tending to our meal before returning to sit beside me.
“So, you’re saying I’m the angel he prayed for to find and save your life?”
I met his gaze and replied with certainty, “Yes.”
Lucas shook his head, “I don’t believe it,” he admitted.
I countered, “I know you do.”
He looked at me, his eyes searching mine, and I touched his shoulder gently.
“I know there’s a part of you that does believe it. The Lordan you remember from those many years ago is still somewhere in there,” I said. “The mere fact that we are both sitting here breathing air proves it. He didn’t kill us.”
Lucas remained unconvinced, “Doesn’t mean he won’t,” he muttered. “So, you know what he’s doing?”
I leaned I and asked, “What?”
