Chapter 78
Lordan’s POV
Lucas’s blood felt warm against my skin, but a chill ran down my spine as I held him in my arms. Horror coursed through me as his body fell limp. I called out his name with desperation in every syllable, “Lucas! Lucas!” but there was no response.
I looked up at Winter and shouted, “What is wrong with him?”
She stood there stiffened on the spot.
With Lucas’s head cradled in my lap, I began to slap his face, trying to rouse him, but he continued to deteriorate before my eyes. The pain gnawed at my jaw as I grappled with the terrifying unknown. His body suddenly went limp, and I felt a shiver of dread.
I shifted my position and tried not to cry. “Lucas! Open your eyes, you wimp!”
Yet, there was no sound or sign of life.
My heart sank as I realized that he wasn’t breathing anymore. He was dead.
A deep, piercing pain radiated from my chest, and a burning sensation in my throat threatened to choke me. Tears blur
