Chapter 158. Suspicious
I crouched down in front of the toilet, my body racked with waves of nausea. The bitter taste of bile rose in my throat, threatening to overwhelm me. It was a wrenching, uncomfortable sensation as if my stomach was attempting to expel all the food I had ingested this weak.
As if the day couldn’t get any worse.
At that moment, I heard the bathroom door clock open, and I looked up, eyes dimmed to half mass, and I saw Clint, concern etched across his face. He crouched down beside me, placing a gentle hand on my back. “Keira, are you okay?” he asked, his voice filled with genuine worry.
I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand, my body trembling. I shook my head slightly, unable to form words just yet. The queasiness persisted, rendering me temporarily speechless.
Guilt also wormed into my heart that I threw up everything that Clint had spent so much time trying to prepare. Even if his cooking wasn’t the best I had eaten, it was not that terrible
