Chapter 41
Leo woke up to a note by his bedside. He rubbed sleep off his eyes, wondering who kept it there. He grasped it and moved his eyes over it. It was from Emma.
I forgive you, Leo, it said. I'll be waiting for you in the car for us to go to school together.
He sat up. A feeling of joy shot up his spine. Finally, he could speak to her again. He stepped out of bed and entered the shower. Yesterday, his mother informed him that Emma could return to school with him. But he wasn't sure how Emma would feel about it. His excitement knew no bounds.
As soon as he was done showering, he slipped on his school uniform and went downstairs for breakfast. He felt his appetite return as he looked at the avocado toast–his favorite.
After eating, he headed to the garage. Emma was already inside the car they usually went to school in. Her father was in the driver's seat.
