Chapter 67
The walls of the gallery were adorned with an array of artworks as Isabella and Isla walked in. This visit was Isla's idea. She had devised another means to handle the Sofia situation. And it included preying on Isabella's desire to always win.
Her chestnut eyes admired the brushstrokes of the different paintings. She and Isabella stopped before a certain painting conveying two lovers drowning.
“This is beautiful,” Isla said.
“Yes, it is. But I'm just not a fan of tragic love.”
“Neither am I. It’s just that the colors are so beautiful.”
She thought about how her relationship with Leo had ended bitterly. She suppressed the pain of recalling it.
“I agree with you on the colors. They are beautiful."
Isla drove her gaze to another painting portraying a shackled woman at the mercy of a man.
"You said there was something you wanted to tell me. Something important," Isabella said, gazing at her with curious eyes.
