Chapter 70

Emma dragged her legs back to the sitting room. Watching her parents cry further shattered her heart. She would never be able to forgive herself for this. She’d lost her only brother. Her only sibling. She should have never gone to the drama Club meeting. Her mother shot her a disdainful look.

"It’s all your fault," she said to Emma.

The latter couldn’t bring herself to say any more words. What she couldn’t understand was how Leo had disappeared. And why would her father blame him for something he didn't do? Why would he push Lionel down the stairs in the first place? Her head swirled with tormenting thoughts.

Suddenly, she could hear sirens wailing outside. Glancing at the window, she saw that it was the police. They had obviously come to know what had happened. The front door burst open.
