The relationship between my parents and my brother is a constant struggle between who's right and who needs to change their way of seeing things.
"Your brother seems to be trying very hard," she whispers as she puts her bag aside on the sofa, takes off her shoes, and leans back on the furniture. A small smile threatens to appear on my face, and I quickly push it away. I grab a glass of water and put some ice in it, stirring the water for a few minutes until it cools down, then I take a sip.
Drinking cold water sobered me up a bit, and suddenly I become aware of everything that's been happening and where I am. I'm in an apartment with a girl I don't know, someone I just met and whose intentions I don't know. I look at the glass and see a bottle of whiskey in one of the drawers. My gaze goes back and forth between the two drinks, and I choose the whiskey. Today, I don't want to think about the consequences of anything.
