Chapter 7
Students thronged into the school, moving in and out. They paired in groups of twos and threes, laughing, playing, and catching up on the latest rumors with one another. Speakers blared, and music notes played out courtesy of the members of the school broadcasting team, suffusing the school in an aura of celebration.
Teachers sat at their desks in the staff room, bent over a heap of papers and scowling, as the rage of their red inks danced on each paper. Once in a while, a teacher stopped to straighten their back and chat with the colleague seated beside them.
Hisses rang out as a bad paper was marked, and also a tiny, proud smile broke out on their faces as papers of good students were just as expected. The supervisors walked into the room, took a look at the busy teachers, grunted in approval, and walked out.
A permanent scowl was fixated on Mr. Adam as he fished out Jared's exam paper and skimmed through it, his red pen poised and ready to slash at the nonsense
