I read his message repeatedly, trying to understand why he sounded so desperate. I wanted to call him, but that would simply be a distraction on my first day at work. We talked about this last night and he agreed with me that I needed to focus more on work. So why the hell is he trying to distract me today instead of encouraging me to do well on my first day. I would have called him back to hear what he had to say, but I decided to focus on my first day at work and get to meet everyone.
