Then her mother, Susan, showed up. “Hey, Alessa.”
“Mommy, Aunt Alessa found my phone!” Margaret squealed happily.
“Yay! Did you say thank you to Aunt Alessa?”
“Um… Thank you, Aunt Alessa!” she smiled and dashed into the apartment.
“This child,” Susan chuckled. “By the way, I’ve heard what she said to you. I saw him too, Alessa. It’s Adrian, a gangster. He was arrested in the past but got released due to lack of evidence. I’m sure he was the one following you, but I don’t think he was actually following you. Maybe it was just a coincidence. He left in a black car when you entered the grocery store. Don’t worry about it. It’s probably nothing.”
“Probably just a coincidence. Why would a man like him want to follow me? Anyway, send Margaret to take her phone,” Alessa replied.
