Chapter 4. Blind Spot

Alpha Zayne Steele

However, right now, I need to stay focused on this mission. I need to be on top of things.

“Five minutes out,” the voice says. Everyone sprang into action, checking their gear, strapping up, and ensuring everything was intact, and their knives were sheathed where they should be.

It is a big mistake reaching for your knife when it’s time to land a kill shot in the limited time possible and said knife is not there.

That can cause severe and deadly consequences, and I also did the same and ensured we were fully stacked on rounds.

“One minute out…” we parked a little way from the target location, and we planned to go the rest on foot.

Getting out and gear packed, we ran through the forest under cover, everyone already knowing their next move. We always plan and train before one of these missions.

Reaching our target, my men stealthily got into position around the perimeters. Four shooters positioned themselves to simultaneously take out the guards on the towers.

Four targets.

Each has their target in sight… Another set of warriors positions themselves for the next move once the guards are taken out, while others continue scanning the perimeter looking for any threats, and then, we wait…

With everybody now in position, the long barrel riffle was drawn, aimed, and ready when I gave the order. Instantly the soft phew sound of the silent riffle could be heard, and simultaneously the guards went down.

Bodies dropped to the ground of the tower. Zoning in, calling my wolf forward, I confirmed they were dead, each with a gaping wound to their head.

Looking at my team, I nodded. I couldn’t see their faces under their masks. However, I sensed that everyone was on edge. You can feel it in the air.

Myself included, more so tired than anything else. But we have done this so many times before. We will also get through this one and hopefully gather some intel to take us one step closer to the truth and reality of the situation.

“It will soon be over. We will be in and out as quickly as possible.” I said to the teams around me in a whisper they could easily hear.

We are in our own teams, five teams of five men. The next minute, team one of five went in to clear the lobby immediately and stay under cover while they took out the guards in the surveillance room, with team two quickly following to make it to the basement to tap into the camera feed.

While team three followed behind to position themselves by the elevator close to the entrance and wait for the next available one. While team four, my team, followed to take the next elevator, with team five, who are following right behind to take out anyone coming down the elevator with team three.

There are four elevators. We are heading to the fifth and fourth floors.

I chose to go to the top floor while team five went to the fourth floor. I might find essential documents on the top floor if we made it in time before any type of alarm is sounded.

By this time, team one had cleared the floor quickly, taking out the remaining guards on the ground floor, and we went live as we heard the instructions start coming in.

I must say, so far, so good.

“Elevators two and four are on the move and coming down. Two are empty, and the other has four occupants. They are all spread out, two to the left, one in the middle, and the other to the right, and elevators one and three seem unmoving. Stay ready.”

This can only mean one thing: team two has successfully secured the tap, and now the feed is cut and replaced, and we have eyes moving forward.

Sadly, not in each room. I assume they don’t want their monstrosities easily recorded at any time. Very smart, I thought.

Nevertheless, team three is getting into position at the news, as team one heads to the empty incoming elevator to get in, head to the third floor, and get into position, awaiting the go-ahead.

Team two quickly reached us as the elevator went ding, and they all rushed in, but the first one in, Sacha, was startled.

“What the f*ck” she hissed, as it was one of those things, that creature. Before said creature could make that screeching sound, though, Sacha skillfully silenced him with a silencer gun, one shot to the head.

“F*ck, thought this elevator was cleared?” She cursed and complained.

Nathanial promptly caught him and rested him on the floor gently. “Disgusting, just disgusting.” Nathanial murmurs, his face scrunched, showing his distaste.

Blood, a dirty cream, almost yellow, oozed out of the wound. We collectively grumbled at the disgusting scent of it.

I guess there is a blind spot in that elevator because that’s the one that was supposed to be empty.

They then pile in and head up just as the other elevator ding, team three already lying in wait, silencers at the ready, squeezing the triggers quickly and skillfully eliminating the threats. Four more guards down.

Quickly putting aside the bodies, which all had gaping head wounds, team five and my team squeezed in, and group three waited for it to come down again. They are heading to the first floor.

Stairs were never an option. They were always gated, which is why we made sure to take the guard’s passes to access the elevator to be able to move up and down.

Team two went to the second floor. We reached our floor, and I checked the stairwell and noticed it did indeed have a gate with a lock. This is how this faction operates, locking in everyone, even their workers, but it’s the norm for them.

We have encountered this before.

We quickly noticed our floors were all clear. Not believing our luck, I made my way with my team into position, awaiting the go-ahead. We would be clearing each floor simultaneously.
