Nathan’s POV
Carefully, I reposition her trembling body, cradling her gently until her back rests firmly against my chest. She’s barely conscious now, her soft whimpers feathering through the quiet room, each breath an effort, each little shudder a testament to how deeply we pushed her tonight. I stroke her damp hair back from her flushed cheek, my chest tight with something both tender and fiercely protective.
