Patrick Banks POV

“Patrick, did you do it?” Valerie’s voice echoed through the quiet room as she walked through the door.

I sat upright on the bed. “What are you talking about?” I asked, my voice slightly groggy. Ever since I came back home, I have been sleeping.

She closed the door behind her and stared at me. “You can’t hide anything from me. We are in this together.” She said as she took a few steps closer to me. “Did you do it?”

I honestly had no idea what she was talking about.

“Do what? What did I do?” My patience was wearing thin and I didn’t like the way she looked at me, like I had killed someone or something.

She paused for a while, dragging a hand down her face. Her expression became soft as she sat on the edge of the bed.

“Benjamin…he…he got into an accident. And the doctors aren’t sure that he’s going to make it.” Her voice was cracked with emotion.

“What?” I gasped in shock, trying to process what I had just heard. “He wh
