Patrick Banks POV

“What are you doing here? Have you come to complete your job?” My mother snapped as soon as she saw me walk into Benjamin’s room.

“Mom! Lower your voice. People can hear you.” I said, my voice barely audible.

She turned to Valerie. “Why did you come with him?” She asked, her voice cracking slightly.

“Just stay outside and wait for me,” I told Valerie when I saw how uncomfortable she was. After she left, I turned to my mother. “Can you calm down? I didn’t do anything to him.”

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, right.” She took a few steps closer to Benjamin and placed her hand around his body, as though she was checking his temperature.

“What did the doctor say happened to him? What is going on?” I asked, my voice strained and uneven.
