Valerie Will POV

We spent three days in Colorado.

Throughout the stay there, I tried to distract myself from reality, but I couldn’t stop thinking about my problems back in New York.

Nevertheless, I made sure Liam had no clue about how I was feeling. Patrick and I always forced a smile during all the activities on the trip.

Liam was having a good time and that was all that mattered.

“I hate that we have to leave today,” Patrick said as he loaded the last bag into the trunk of the car.

“Yes. We could have stayed a little bit longer.” Liam groaned as he chimed in on the conversation. “Why do I have school? I can’t wait for the holidays.”

I let out a soft chuckle, ruffling his hair. “You’ve had so much fun already. It’ll last you enough until the end of school.”

After talking for a while, we settled down in the car. As the driver drove off to the airport, my eyes were fixed on the road.
