Chapter 116
Patrick Banks POV
My mother’s words hurt more than any wound could ever. I couldn’t believe she would look me in the eyes and call me a murderer.
I shook my head in disbelief as I sat down on the empty chair across from her.
After I was settled down, we stared at each other for a few moments, silence stretching between us. I swallowed hard, ignoring the lump that had formed in my chest.
“So you actually asked them to arrest me?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
My mother nodded. “Of course, you belong behind bars.” She spoke like a stranger, distant and detached. “I don’t even know who you are anymore…. or what you are.”
Every word that came out of her mouth made my heart ache.
My mother and I were very close. Ever since I became an adult, she has always treated me with respect and kindness.
