Valerie Will POV

“I’m sorry I missed your call. I was in court.” Celeste apologized as I answered the phone. “How are you doing?”

I let out a wistful sigh. “I’m good, I guess.”

“You and Patrick still aren’t talking?”

I nodded. “Yeah.”

Ever since Patrick thought I was trying to justify what Jordan had done, he iced me out. He barely said any words to me even when I tried my best to start up a conversation.

He didn’t even spare me a glance.

But when it came to the kids, he was still acting like his usual self. At least, he didn’t shut them out even though he was dealing with a lot of things.

I admired that about him, even if it hurt that I wasn’t included in that version of him anymore, the kids still got his warmth and attention.

But I just couldn’t help but wonder how long he would continue with that attitude. It was getting frustrating but I couldn’t even do anything about it anymore.
